Assistant Director, Institutional and Applied Research

Amy Yang serves as the Assistant Director of Institutional and Applied Research at Penn State Behrend, holding a unique dual-role that bridges institutional research and the Research and Evaluation arm of the Susan Hirt Hagen CORE. In this capacity, Amy supports the college leadership team and schools with data-driven insights related to retention, strategic planning, and program evaluation, while also contributing to CORE’s mission to promote positive youth development.

Amy holds a master’s degree in Statistics and Measurement from Florida State University, where she also served as a Graduate Research Assistant at the Center for Postsecondary Success. Her academic training and professional experience have equipped her with strong quantitative and qualitative research skills, focusing on improving academic outcomes and evaluating institutional policies to enhance student success. Prior to joining Penn State Behrend, Amy spent five years as an Institutional Research Analyst at George Washington University.

Since joining CORE in 2022, Amy has deepened her interest in social-emotional well-being and positive development for both college-age students and youth. Her role allows her to connect academic research with practical applications, fostering collaboration between CORE and Penn State Behrend to evaluate programs and initiatives that impact student and community outcomes.
